Because beginnings matter....

Ontario midwives are registered healthcare professionals who provide care throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and for six weeks after your baby is born.

Midwifery care is funded by the Ministry of Health and is free to all residents of Ontario - with or without OHIP.

You do not need a referral from your doctor to access midwifery care.

Ontario midwives hold admitting privileges at over 90 Ontario hospitals, and are also the only healthcare providers who are specially trained to attend births in community settings (at home, at clinic birthing suites, and at birth centers).
